Subject Description
Technology has made information available for decision-making ever more abundant and timely, helping to improve the speed and quality of managers’ decisions but to also take advantage of managers need to understand how to create and use that information in their organisation. The aim of this subject is to enable students to assess the opportunities and problems that managers from different levels face as they use different types of Information Systems (IS) and technologies to help them make decisions. Students will examine technologies such as big data analytics, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and business intelligence in a business context, and learn how to evaluate current business processes and identify how business efficiencies can be achieved using IS. Students will gain practical skills using database and analytics tools.
