Academic Integrity at AIHE
Maintaining honesty and integrity in your academic work
Academic integrity is an essential quality for higher education and is a fundamental part of learning and teaching. AIHE is committed to promoting academic integrity and ethical behaviour.
The reputation of AIHE and its graduates, and the academic standing of its qualifications, rests with its ability to promote academic integrity and manage academic misconduct fairly and consistently.
Academic standards in relation to correct referencing and acknowledgement of sources are highly valued by AIHE and are specifically taught and developed as part of the student orientation program and in each subject.
Students have an ongoing obligation to be aware of the Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure , the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Misconduct Procedure .
Academic Misconduct
Academic misconduct can take many forms
Students should understand the different forms of academic misconduct and ensure that all assessment work is completed honestly and in accordance with AIHE requirements.
Cheating
Acting dishonestly in examinations, tests or other assessment activities in order to gain an unfair academic advantage.
Collusion
Unauthorised collaboration or assistance when an assessment is required to represent an individual student's own work.
Ghostwriting
Having another person or service prepare work that is subsequently submitted as the student's own assessment work.
Your Responsibilities
Protect the integrity of your work
Academic integrity is an ongoing responsibility throughout your studies. Students should understand the requirements for each assessment and seek guidance whenever those requirements are unclear.
Correct referencing, acknowledgement of sources and responsible preparation of assessment work are important academic skills that support successful study at AIHE.
Submit Your Own Work
Ensure work submitted for assessment represents your own academic effort unless collaboration has been specifically authorised.
Acknowledge Your Sources
Correctly reference and acknowledge the ideas, words, research and materials of other people.
Ask When You Are Unsure
Seek clarification from your lecturer or relevant academic staff if you are uncertain about assessment or academic integrity requirements.
