Research governance
Research Ethics Review Panel
The Research Ethics Review Panel (RERP) is a sub-committee of the Academic Board. It provides independent ethical review, approval, and ongoing monitoring of research involving human participants or human-derived data conducted at, or on behalf of, AIHE.
Review responsibilities
The RERP reviews negligible and low-risk human research, monitors approved projects, and provides guidance on research ethics to AIHE staff and students.
Governance
The Panel operates under the authority of the Academic Board and reports to the Academic Board at least annually.
Scope: The RERP may approve negligible and low-risk human research. Research classified above low risk must be referred to an appropriately constituted external Human Research Ethics Committee.
Terms of Reference
Approved by the Academic Board and reviewed every two years, or as required.
